2019 Cadillac XT4 offers Cornering Lights

The new 2019 Cadillac XT4 offers cornering lights as a optional features for some of the versions, and they are actual LED lights that turn with the steering wheel. Read more:
Cadillac XT4 Lights Adapt To Road Corners | GM Authority

I remember the older Cadillacs with fixed lights on the front fender behind the bumper edges that lit up when turning, and they were very bright, even under daylight. These XT4 lights utilize the lower-most LED bulb in each of its signature headlight blades, and the angle of deflection is a function of the steering input; as the wheel turns, the headlights pivot in the same direction. So this new CUV is safer than most others as they add illumination when turning, allowing the driver to see obstacles before entering the turn.

You would think with the more strict safety regulations that we would've seen more of these kinds of systems already. Unfortunate that they are restricting it to the higher trim levels or an optional tech package. BMW and Audi's have had this feature for quite some time now.

Disappointed that tech which is new to Cadillac has already been used by German brands as far back as the early 00's. It goes to show how much catching up Cadillac has left.

You didn't read the second paragraph of my original post. Cadillac did have this feature many years before the German brands, and a small U.S. brand called Tucker did it in 1948: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucker_48

"The most recognizable feature of the Tucker '48, was a third directional headlight (known as the "Cyclops Eye"). Centrally located, it would activate at steering angles of greater than 10 degrees to light the car's path around corners"

So this is an original American idea. The German just copied it. Stop admiring the Germans! They are just another group of copycats like the Asians.
